Guangzhou Visit.

Yumi and I headed out to Guangzhou to visit John today. We left around 9AM and got to the city big bus station around 11am. Today was pouring rain. Big time. It was just coming down hard. On my taxi bike to the bus station, the guy's rain poncho was too small so i got wet all over my shorts n such. So, the whole bus ride there I was in wet shorts. Luckily they were able to dry out quickly.
They were playing some strange comedy/scary movie on the TV. Its about these ghosts that plague Hong Kong taxi drivers on the night shifts. It was kinda funny.
There are so many bus stations in Guangzhou it took us forever to figure out with John which bus station we were at. We ended up going to the one he was planning to go to to pick up his friend Irene at 12pm.
So basically, we had to kill 1 hour waiting for Irene, Dan's girlfriend. And once we did, we wasted more time while she was trying to get her luggage checked and finding the train terminal for her leaving at 350pm.
After that was settled we headed out to John's new apartment where he lived with a Swedish guy named Artoo. We hung out for a bit then went to see what Zhongshan University looks like. It still amazes me at how much the communists hold him up on a pedestal when he was the creator of the KMT and stood for everything that they are against. I guess that since the people like him, then the communists must make him look good to make themselves look good.
After that we had to take the subway back to the train station to see Irene off. Once we saw her off, we called up Ben and we headed out to the Garden City Hotel area (very nice area of Guangzhou) to shop and look at junk and then meet for Brazillian BBQ.
We got to the area and while waiting for Ben we went into the expensive mall where they had shops of all the very expensive fashion designers. They had some neat stuff, but it was all overpriced junk pretty much.
After that we met up with Ben and then headed to the BBQ place.
We were the first ones there. They said the meet wouldn't be done for another 20 minutes or so. Oh well. It was all you could eat and it was good. The buffet with salads and junk was good. Meat arrived and it was really good.
After dinner, Yumi and I headed back to the bus station and caught the 7pm back to Xiaolan. My feet were hella dirty from the rain and Guangzhou streets.
Goodnite.
