Whoa...great mood today. *Revenge of the Sith SPOILERS BEWARE*

I spent most of this morning throwing together some video clips of star wars and stuff to put on a DVD to show my kindergarteners on Friday in Celebration of the movie. Hopefully they already know about it or they will be interested in it. They are in the prime age range...6 and 7. They should. If not, they are stupid and don't deserve to be my students. I know when I was that age I used to watch Return of the Jedi with my best friend at the time, John Shaw. I used to watch that all the time along with The Dark Crystal every day after I came home from school. ROCKED! I just read recently that they will make a sequel to Dark Crystal. Killer.
Well, today I was in a good mood. I guess it was because I am planning to go see Revenge of the Sith tonite at 1150pm at the theatre here in Xiaolan. So excited. I mentioned that we should get drunk before going to see it...maybe the alcohol will help me to miss the bad acting and bad dialogue that I am sure Lucas has screw up again on. Ugh. Oh well.
My 3rd grade class was, "eh". Not that great. I was waiting for it to be over. Just loud and no attention paying. I think all these problems are attributing to the weather. The hotter it gets the more energy they have. WHen it was cold they were much more docile. They are just like gas in the Thermodynamic sense. Man, did I suck in Thermo at college. I am sure I could have aced it at UM Dearborn though.
What else. 5th grade was a blast today. My good mood, Ivy's presence, and the stormy weather gave the students enuff to not be uninterested and slightly ready to participate. I took a lame ass lesson on the letter "b" and turned it into a 40 minute laugh fest including me playing baseball with a boy's head, buying a kid, and acting like a woman. It was great.
I had kindergarten class at 430pm and I taught body parts.
I then had class with Daisy and then my Chinese lesson.
I skipped my chinese lesson to do some stuff preparing for lessons tomorrow.
We went to go see Revenge of the Sith tonite. At first, we were the only ones there and we thought maybe we would be the only ones, but alas, no. *SPOILERS COMING UP* It was good, for the most part. I had a few issues with it, but I need to see it again. Why must I see it again? .....because....the chinese attendant selling us tix SAVED FACE and lied about the fact that the movie was in English with Chinese subtitles. The movie was in Chinese. Entirely. No subtitles. But you know what....i think it saved the dialogue. I think it may sound better in Chinese than in English. If I don't like the movie in English, I may just gonna have to watch it in Chinese with english subtitles on the DVD. THe acting actually seemed better in this one. Maybe it had to do with more effort put into it by Lucas or that there was no English soundtrack and all their bad voice acting was gone.
I need to see it in English before I make definite opinions about the film. But for right now, I think its a far better film in Chinese than the first two buckets of crap that we were served. Things I can definitely say that I was irritated about: General Grievous goes out like a bitch - such good potential wasted. Dooku whoops Obi-Wan super quickly and then Dooku gets whooped super fast. The lack of emotion shown by Obi-wan after Padme gets forcechoked.
Things that i may find better after watching in English: the transition from Anakin to Darth Vader. It just seemed force and didn't feel like he really did.
Another thing that upset me was all of the stuff cut out of the film. I have been visiting the spoilers boards and stuff, like a geek, and I have seen stills of stuff that was not in what I saw. Along with people's descriptions of scenes and shots from previewing showings in the US and Europe.
As far as understanding it, I caught about 10% of the chinese. Luckily, since I had read all of the spoilers, I knew what was going on in each scene, pretty much.
Things that ruled:
I cheered out loud when Mace Windu got killed off. IT RULED! Take that Sam, get out of this franchise now! Order 66 - the order to exterminate all the Jedi was powerful. The senate fight between Yoda and the Emporer. Parts of the duel between Obi and Anakin. What rules?.... Yoda speaking chinese. Its like.....the quintesential old gong fu master. i thought of Sam Seed and all the old classic gong fu movies. The opening space battle looked amazing, rivalling the Jedi space battle. There was other stuff I really liked too.
One thing that was irritating to the whole theatre was the fact that the audio, at random times would cut out for some reason or another. Even the chinese got pissed at that. Half the group we came with took off when they found out it was in Chinese and we got our money back. However, the lady was like, if you stay, you have to pay, and so this led Megan to go all hardcore and demand a discount. She got them to do half off. So, that was good. The price of the film to see was originally 30RMB, but she got it down to 15. Nothing drastic, but still, our team won somewhat.
And yes, the chinese still talk on their cellfones during movies. I actually told a couple people to shut up. I RULE! Well, its late. I need to find out where I can see this in English in a theatre. I may still need to hit up Hong Kong.
Good nite all, my longest day is tomorrow. It was worth the experience I think. I enjoyed myself.
