Ivy's Punishment.

I had class today. The 3rd graders were a little loud today. During lunch, I went to the gym to run. My knee wasn't hurting as I ran, which is good.
The 5th graders today, which are pretty good usually, were terrible today. No one was listening and it was really irritating. Ivy wanted me to review what I did last time because she said the kids couldnt read the story properly and speak it properly. So I tried to go over it and they seemed to follow along, but then I had them read this stuff in their own in groups to prepare to perform in front of the class. While they were reading in groups, a couple kids were like, whats this? I was like, "weather." No, no, no...this sentence...."I can tell you about the weather."
I was like, you guys don't know how to say "I can tell you". So I talked to Ivy briefly about why bother teaching this stuff to them when they can't even read or understand basic words. What have they been learning?
This made Ivy think that I was mad at them and she proceeded to just yell at them and make examples of individual students. "What has Phil just taught you." Only a couple kids said anything. Mostly they stayed quiet to save face. She forced all the kids to apologize to me and I am like sitting in the back totally in my head going, "ARGH! This is not the way to do things! This is not how to make them learn! This is so frustration." Its amazing how much they speak when Ivy talks to them, and how less they do when I speak to them. Maybe its lack of respect, or more so...fear.
Not much happened the rest of the day. Goodnite.
