Goodbye Party for Rumi.
Well, today I woke up at 630 AM to call Coco and Catherine to let them know whether I could make it to class this morning. I tried Coco, no answer - "power off". I called Catherine and told her I couldn't make the morning classes. I felt pretty bad and that I couldn't really get outta bed, however, since I didn't feel as bad as I did the last time I had this, I may be able to make afternoon classes if I rest. I told her I would call her at 11 to let her know. So, I spent the rest of the morning resting and trying to heal. Around 11 I got up and walked around. I was pretty fine, still sore and my tummy ached a bit, but I could function. I called Catherine up and told her I would be able to make class.
During the lunch period I was able to finish all the DVD burning for the USA package. I really had no desire to eat because my stomach was still hurting, but I eventually ordered some eggs and tomatos because I figured that would be good for me. Nothing bad happened. It went ok. I then headed out to class.
On the way there, as I was riding by the hospital, I saw a chinese guy running out of the entrance way at top speed, across the street thru traffic. Then I saw a security guy running and yelling after him while holding his beret on his head then another security guy came running out as well. Hmm, I wonder what happened? It could think of many things. Strange thing is, I didn't seem surprised by this event. I got to school. I felt icky and I stayed reserved while teaching the 3rd graders, but I got them to enjoy class. Same with Kindergarten today. I taught a few more movements of Hong Quan to the kids. I got 14 movements now. About half the kids are paying attention. They all seem to do it for 20 seconds and then they lose interest. Its funny.
I felt to icky to really go to Daisy's place for CHinese lessons so I called and told them I couldn't make it. I wanted to rest before the bye party. So, I picked up the Ultra-Man cake after class, picked up a picture frame, and the picture from the shop and wrote out some Goodbye Wishes from John and I on the shirt. I then took an hour rest.
I totally needed it. I fell right asleep.
Got up about 8pm and prepared everything for the party. I headed out to Si Ji (Four Seasons), the nice beer gardens over by Longshan Park. Not the normal beer gardens by Normata. There was about 18 people there when everyone showed up. Rumi and Yumi were late because their school had a goodbye dinner for Rumi and it went long, as usual. Unfortunately, Mayu couldn't come becuase her taxi back home left at 10pm. Phooey. While we waited for them, I had almost everyone sign the shirt and look at the shirt and picture. Amy gave Rumi a picture of her, Rumi, and Yumi together at Halloween. Rumi seemed surprised at my shirt and the picture. So that is good.
What sucked was that because Toby is so brain dead, he invited his stalker to the festivities. There is this chinese girl named Wendy or something who is from Harbin, she came to Xiaolan about 4 years ago, she speaks a little english, she is around 17-19 and she is completely infatuated with Toby. Apparently she used to call all the time and she left notes on their door. So, finally, acouple weeks ago, Toby was like, what the hell, I will meet with her. Totally not caring about how it might make Rumi feel. And he did so a couple times. The guy is completely mental. And he invites her to Rumi's going away party. It just makes you wonder how many drugs he has really taken.
My stomach all throughout the gathering was still a bit sore so I didn't drink much or eat much. I had Rumi cut the cake and everyone seemed to like the cake. It tastes like all the other chinese cake I have had. Despite the colors, flair, and looks of all the chinese cakes, they sure taste alot alike. its weird. But she got a kick out of the Ultra-Man. Word. Respect to Ultra-Man. I took off around midnite because I was really tired. Rumi stayed on with Toby, Ben, Miguel, New John, and Ash. It was a good nite. I passed out when I got home.
