Lion and Dragon Dancing Update
Hello all, I thought I would give you and update on the Lion and Dragon Dancing I have been doing. The Lion Dance training isn't going as well as I hoped. The head teacher still hasn't finished showing me Hong Quan and HE hasnt shown me anything of lion dancing. The only one who has shown me anything is a 15 year boy who lives at the studio. 1 of the 8 wunderkind. Truth be told, I haven't been able to make most practices the past month. I plan, however, to bust out all this month and go every night except for Fridays. So. As for me coming home to teach Lion Dancing to all of you, I don't think it will be possible. Maybe if I am lucky in the next 6-months. Who knows. However, being on TV was really cool. I am trying to get the footage.
I am heading to Foshan tomorrow. Wong Fei-Hong's hometown. For those of you who don't know who he is, I urge you to do some research. Lets just say he is a chinese folk hero and over 200 movies have been made about him. Most of the great martial arts movie actors have played him. If it still exists, I am gonna visit Po Chi Lam, his home and medical center. Coco, the head english teacher is taking me there, her sister lives there, and she said people refer to Po Chi Lam as one of the temples now. However, I doubt that. I think Coco just doesn't understand what I am trying to explain. Trying to save face. I will find out tomorrow.
Foshan is the center for Wushu in southern China. I am gonna see about getting a teaching position there so I can take up that for six months. Who knows it may be cool. Training in Wushu for 6 months can't hurt anything. Especially since the Lion Dance training isn't going as well as I hoped. I may be able to learn some there.
I am taking my resume and some documents to pass out there.
