I had an Arnold Schwarzeneggar moment today.
You know that scene in Kindergarten Cop where the Bad Guy is walking thru the school with the Vice-Principal looking at the different classrooms, but he is really looking for his son Dominick? Well, they arrive at Arnold's room and he is beseiged by little kids...like a dog pile on Arnold. Well, that happened to me today in Kindergarten. Well, not the part with the bad guy, but the part with the dogpile. I was teaching for about 40 minutes and we had a bathroom break and most of the kids went to the bathroom. However, the remaining kids stayed to play with me. I lifted two kids up with each arm and all of a sudden, about 20 kids mobbed me and were grabbing my legs and punching me playfully wanting me to pick them up. I was picking a few of them up and throwing them around. They loved it. It was making me happy. Lynn was my assistant today and she was giggling non-stop. She said, "Aiya! You are spoiling the kids!" And I responded, "I know."
I continued to do it. Until the real kindergarten teacher/enforcer returned. She looked angry because all the kids were laughing and having fun, so you could think of her as the Bad Guy from Kindergarten Cop. I was telling the kids, "Hurry up, sit down! You don't want to get into trouble!! Hurry hurry!" So they sat down and I proceeded to finish the class.
Other stuff... class started at 10am today. Then I headed ot the gym after one class. That was good. Some kids are performing a play in a contest on Tuesday morning...The Three Little Pigs. I have helped out a bit, but not much. I was really impressed. It was done well, they sounded good, and they looked adorable. But they got their costumes in. So awesome. I am gonna videotape the performance. I can't wait.
