Sunday morning teaching in Guzhen

I woke up this morning and got ready. Headed to the XIaolan Office by 830am. Met up with Mountain then got our taxi and headed to pick up Suzannah. We then drove about 20 minutes to Guzhen. I had three classes to take care of...well, 2 classes, but one was two periods long.
The first class was surprisingly fun. Most of the kids participated and enjoyed the lesson. And they would do what I said. They kinda understood. I was dumbfounded. The actual teacher though, surprised me with her english. It was very good. And she understood me as well. WOW! Thats prolly why they are so good. The only problem with the class was it was shared between 3rd and 4th graders. So some of the kids already knew the material. Sort of a pain in the ass, but not really.
The second class was prolly 2nd grad/3rd grade level. They were a blast. I was teaching catch and run to the door and other objects. It was great. I was making them tell each other what to do in English. I was throwing my pocket cleanex at them and they were going wild. Its not hard to entertain chinese kids.
I was really impressed with these kids here. I was talking with Suzannah and she thinks its a money issue. At that Guzhen school the kids are poorer in relation to the kids at her school. She claimed to know this by the fact that she uses a balloon to get kids to answer questions. Now, at her school when she brings out the balloon, the kids instantly attack it and attempt to destroy it. SMOTHER IT!!! DO IT NOW!! But in Guzhen, the kids were playing with it and trying not to break it. She was amazed. Thats what made her think its a money issue. Plus, her school in Xiaolan is the richest in town.
Afterwards we headed back to Xiaolan. We met up with Sean, John, and Jolleen and went to the Best Dumpling House. Awesome dumplings. Then we walked to the video store where I was looking for this recent HK movie. Didn't find it. I picked up a Jackie Chan movie and Infernal Affairs. They both rocked. Today was a relaxing lazy day. I am heading to bed.
Later.
